Recording Information

Real Property documents may be filed and recorded with the Travis County Clerk’s Office in person or by mail. The original documents with original signatures are required for the recording. The County Clerk’s Office will not record a copy.

Recordings are completed immediately once received in the County Clerk’s Office. Most of the documents with the exception of Plats are processed, assigned an instrument number, scanned, and the original documents are returned by mail or instant return for customers in person. Subdivision Plats are not returned the same day.

The filing fee per document is $25 for the first page and $4 each additional page. Please view Recording Fees page for a detailed fee schedule. Cash, credit card, checks, or money orders are accepted. Please make checks payable to Travis County Clerk.
